Have you watched the latest Start Wars movie? I’ve recently watched it with my family (yeah, it’s kind too late because the premiere is on December) and found it quite good. You won’t believe me at first if I say there are some inspiring life lessons from Star Wars movie, right?

Star Wars is a kind of science fiction movie that lately has won the hearts of fans around the world. In fact, this movie has managed to beat the record of pre-sale tickets and it has now been able to give significant trace for Hollywood movies. It even beats Avatar (2009) and becoming no 1 film in the North America’s box office.

Avatar by James CameronIts final episode, The Force Awaken, has become a historical record as a movie with the highest revenue in the first day of the delivery of US $ 91 million. The film has successfully beaten the achievement of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 which survived since 2011 ago.

This movie features many newcomers like Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo). It got a perfect review in various websites. In a CinemaScore survey firm, The Force Awaken episode also gets a lot of viewer’s points who have watched it.

The Star Wars movie is a legendary movie and has become a pop-culture around the world, as if this movie has bewitched everyone to be a fanboy / fangirl. But, do you realize that there are a lot of inspiring life lessons that you can learn from this movie?

Let’s wake up your spirit with some inspiring lessons from the Star Wars franchise:

1. In life there are good and evil

In life, everything is in pairs, as well as good and evil. Where there is a goodness there also will be evil. As in the movie, The Old Republic which became the symbol of goodness, and the Emperor who became the symbol of evil.

2. The best thing in life is to try to always be good

Being good is not an easy thing, but being good is a choice. Just like Luke, who always try to be good. Actually, in this life we are born to be an agent of good. For that we should be able to distinguish what is good and what is bad, but somehow many people have strayed from the goal of their life.

3. Do not ask others to sacrifice their family

As we know, the family is an important part of a person, if you are a boss and asking your staffs to sacrifice their precious time with their family members just to get the works done, it will backfire you sooner or later. Like Darth Vader, who was ordered by the Emperor to kill his son, he then turned to kill the Emperor.

4. Do not motivated by way of scaring

Probably scare is one way to motivate someone else, but actually fear will be a barrier for someone to go ahead. It’s like the way Darth Vader used to motivate his own henchmen. He always says ‘Force Choke’. Instead of giving motivation, in fact his henchmen became unfocused because of fear.

5. Rewards are not always in the form of money

As the saying goes “money is not everything”, as well as the life lessons of a Star Wars movie, to perform an action, not always reward money is the goal. Rewards may be the presence of a companion, as Han Solo who saved Luke, his best friend, because he does not want to lose Luke.

There is no harm if occasionally we owe, but if it’s too often, then your finances will be damaged. In Episode VI, Han Solo frozen in the hanging wall of Jabba the Hutt, he was used as a warning to people who owe the galactic gangsters, a significant financial lesson.

In the Star Wars Episode I, The Phantom Menace, there was a scene where Qui Gon Jinn bet with Watoo to release Anakin Skywalker. Jinn win if he asks Anakin freed, otherwise if Jinn loses, he will give his space ship. After Anakin managed to win the race, Watto said “You deceive Me, I lost everything“. Jinn reply: “Whenever you bet, in fact you’ve already lost.

Some may be implicit like this one, some are quite explicit (especially movies directed for children). At the very least, it provide entertainment value. We need some stress-reliever too, right? :)

    I haven’t seen the new star wars yet but I’m definitely going to! I’m so excited to see it with my family! I’ve heard a lot of good about it and the number of ticket sales shows it must be good! It’s interesting that you saw these life lessons portrayed in the movie. They all are very real and very important to include in you own life!

    I especially like rewards are not always in the form of money. It is a concept I have tried to teach my children for a long time.

    I have not seen the new Star Wars movie yet. I have seen all of the other ones leading up to it.

    I have heard from friends who have seen the newest Star Wars movie that it is amazing. I hear it is well done. I had not thought of until I read your article of all the good lessons that can be learned from the movie.

    I agree with all of the lessons you mentioned and yes, I also agree with with that many life lessons can be learned from going to the movies. I enjoy watching what we often refer to as Feel Good movies. They inspire you. They make you go out and fix things that are wrong in our lives and relationships with others.
