When looking for some of my older articles, I realized that I’ve been mentioning determination quite a lot. Although it didn’t specifically mention about self determination definition, this one article about the importance of self determination has received a lot of good comments. Most people agreed that determination, coupled with some other positive mindsets, will certainly deliver you to success, and eventually your happiness.
These are two of the comments about complementing self determination with other positive behavior:
Do you agree with them? How do you define self determination?
A Glimpse of Self Determination Definition
Self-determination definition means recognizing yourself without other outside influence. And by recognizing, it means that you need to understand about two points. You need to increase your ability and try to improve your weakness. So, self-determination can take your ability in a better way, because when you are more familiar with yourself, that means you can choose the best thing for yourself.
For example, when you realize that you have a good voice and then you decide to be a singer, then it might be a good decision. Just to make a clear interpretation, having good voice doesn’t automatically mean you should be a singer. Similarly, not having good voice doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pursue a career in music industry.
This is a matter of following your heart, and you can read this article about how to follow your heart.
Self-determination can improve your motivation and self-confident indirectly when choosing your path. When you can look at many people around us that already got familiar with themselves, they can choose a better way in life, especially their career.
Public figures, when you can see in their life, their background and their struggle to get success, they did not reach it easily. Generally, we can say that they already recognize their ability, so they can choose their way to be a successful public figure.
Since I didn’t talk too much about the definition of self-determination in the previous article, let’s take a look of it more by digging a bit the personality and life journey of a certain famous actor.
A Brief Life Journey of Daniel Craig
Well, a few moments ago, you may have watched the latest movie from Bonds series, Spectre (2015). The actor behind Bond in that movie have successfully portrayed as the charming spy agent since Casino Royale (2007). Do you know who he is?
Ok, you guess it right (or no?)! He is Daniel Wroughton Craig or better known as Daniel Craig.
“You’ve got to live your life, you’ve got to enjoy it.”
– Daniel Craig.
Daniel Wroughton Craig or just called Craig is an actor from England who starts his career in 1992. He played as an Afrikaner in his first screen role, The Power of One. His passion to be an entertainer, especially an actor was begun when he goes to enjoying a theater with her mother. Little Craig in his 12th years old decided to get serious in acting.
He worked part time in a restaurant to finance his training in National Youth Theatre at the age 16 years old. His hard work and intrinsic motivation bring him to success in auditioning for drama school and he accepted to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and graduated in 1991.
Craig reportedly had lost two teeth in a fight scene and an actor who gets his first award in Evening Standard British Film Awards as the best actor in 2007 and also ever tried to do diet in order to maximize his role as James Bond. He is an extraordinary actor who achieved success in his role as James Bond in the movie Casino Royale (2006), Skyfall (2012) and the latest is Spectre (2015).
That’s what we call a total determination in the job. Should he stop somewhere in the middle of his journey, we might see another person as Bond in those movies or at opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, alongside Queen Elizabeth II. Also, he won’t appear as a cameo in the latest installment of the Star Wars series, Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).
He Teaches Us About Self Determination Definition Based on His Struggle to be Successful.
“I’d never copy somebody else. I would never do an impression of anybody else or try and improve on what they did. That would be a pointless exercise for me.”
– Daniel Craig
From the quotes, Craig told us that to achieve a goal, we don’t need to be someone else.
It will be enough with expanding what we have and what we can do, tried so hard, seriously. The most important thing is to motivate yourself. Craig achieved his success right now not because he can rise from his poverty, he once homeless when he lives in London, but see? Craig was never give up.
With self-determination, it can make you be able to control yourself. Where will you go, what should you do and what attitude to be taken when you faced with an obstacle in the way to be successful. When there is no more family and friends, then who else would make you rise?
The real power is actually there in yourself. You are the one who can truly make your own happiness. What you really need to do is just to realize about what you have and then improve it to get the best result just like what Daniel Craig did.
