In the previous article, I’ve told you about the two rising star smartphone brands which turned out to be originated from Asia. One of them even outranks Apple’s market share domination in China. I would consider it as a solid foundation of saying that Asia has shined so bright and keep going further. Amongst so many countries in Asia, there’s one that attracted me for presenting a quiet outstanding progress lately, South Korea.

This is a map showing South Korea location

Separating from his ‘brother’ in 1948, South Korea has gone through variance turbulence in paving the way to its glory. Today, it has become one of the most appealing tourist destinations in Asia. A lot of people have been visiting South Korea. Points of interest for the tourists usually include cities, culture, and islands.

This website is all about inspiration and personal development to become a Hero in your life. So, you might wonder now, what is the connection of South Korea and being inspired?

Well, I’ve researched a bit about South Korea and actually found some connections. However, let’s enjoy first about those many points of interest of South Korea, and also a glimpse about how is life in there.

Entertainment Industry, the Notable Point of Interest

When you think about South Korea, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? I know the answer could be varied.

If you’re a big fan of pop music, maybe you will answer SNSD, Super Junior, or Big Bang; Kpop (Korean Pop) boy bands and girl band which can be considered as iconic to the Kpop industry. You may also know could be the multinational conglomerate company Samsung, automotive manufacturer Hyundai, or maybe the rapidly growing entertainment industry that created Kpop stars like SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment. Well, those last ones have a responsibility to cause Hallyu Wave (Korean Wave) since the late 1990s to the world.

PSY and Gangnam Style

Who doesn’t know PSY and his popular dance, Gangnam Style?

The entertainment industry has never faded away. Everyone loves to watch movies, shows or listening to music. South Korea has brought it all together. They made us watching music. I never have a doubt that every music maker participants has always been working so hard to present a wonderful performance. But, South Korea has brought a difference definition of wonderful performance.

Kpop has been considered as a genre of a wide variety of audiovisual element. It’s the type of entertainment that will fully entertain both your eyes and ears. One of the most famous boy band that performs Kpop is Big Bang.

Big Bang Members

Is anyone here a fan of Big Bang?

Consist of 5 young and talented man, the group debuted in 2006. Since debuted, the group has received more than 100 awards and held a World Tour Concert in 2012 with an estimated total of 800,000 attendees. However, it wasn’t an easy journey. They were scouted at the age of 11 and trained for years before they even made the debut.

This pre-debut training also applied to all Kpop artist. Each of them trained for many years before they can make their debut. This training really builds up their qualities, which is why many Kpop artists also make an appearance in dramas and movies. Amongst them are Choi Si Won from Super Junior, like Jung Yong Hwa from CNBlue, Suzy from Miss A, Soo Young from SNSD and many more.

Besides Kpop, another notable entertainment sector is manhwa, the South Korean ‘manga’ which is created in South Korea. If you don’t know, manga is a term to define comics that created in Japan. China’s comic is called ‘manhua’ while America’s comic is usually just refer as comic books.

Ragnarok Online MMORPG

This surely brings back a lot of memories if you ever played it

Since first published in 1958, manhwa has become more popular over time. One of the most popular manhwas is Ragnarok which has been turned into a massively multiplayer online role-playing game with the same name: Ragnarok Online.  If you are a fan of manhwa, then other notable manhwa include Full House (which was adapted as a popular live-action drama), Priest, Noblesse, Witch Hunter, and The Gamer.

Travel Destination, the Many Points of Interest

Other than the entertainment industry, South Korea is also known for its beautiful and cultural landscape. Since 1995, UNESCO has listed 11 cultural properties and 1 natural property in South Korean.

Jeju Island View

Jeju Island

One of them is Jeju Volcanic and Lava Tube, also known of Jeju Island. This is one of the must-visit-place in South Korea. There is also Damyang, the bamboo producer land, which provide another natural beauty. While Jeju offers an endless coastal view, Damyang is full of scenic view. It would make you astonished with the line of bamboo along the walk.

There are a lot of things to do and beautiful places to visit. However, there’s nothing that can represent South Korea better than Seoul, the heart of the country. More than 20% of the total 51 million people in South Korea reside in this city. You can find almost anything here.

Jung District at Seoul

Jung District – Seoul

In Seoul, you can take a visit to Gyeongbok – the most beautiful and grandest palace in Seoul, enjoy Lotte World – the world’s largest indoor theme park, shopping in Myeongdong – Seoul’s most famous fashion district, or witness the great panoramic view of the city from Namsam Tower. The largest city in South Korea really has it all.

Building the city so great doesn’t mean that the traditional market was left over. Street food is one of the most visited markets because they offer a wide variety and easy to carry foods, and that’s also how life in South Korea goes.

Kimchi, Korean Stew

With various cuisine along the street, you can taste tteokbokki – the spicy rice cake, Korean friend chicken with spicy honey sauce, Kimbab – the Korean Sushi, Odeng – fish cake skewer, Korean Noodle, and, of course, you can’t miss Kimchi, the traditional Korean side dish.

South Korea, Points of Interest, and Inspiration. What is the connection?

With everything I have elaborated above, it is clear to see that South Korean has paved the way to becoming one of the prominent countries in the world. But, the reason behind its success is not just the government or some wealthy businessman.

There are two questions here with the same answer:

  1. Why did the entertainment industry of South Korea grow so massive since the 1990s?
  2. Why did South Korea become a very famous travel destination in the Asia to this day?

The answer for the two questions above is the citizen of South Korea.

South Korea points of interest are so many, but they are exist now because of their people

People is the answer behind every country’s success

Everyone in the country is working so hard to make South Korean a better country as we know today. They treat the mother nature so well. They develop dramatically because South Koreans really did their best for the common good with their heart burning with patriotism. They successfully created South Korea as a good country to live and offer so many things to the world.

It can be applied to us, as well. I’m not talking specifically for patriotism, but rather about the determination and passion. When people of South Korea have a strong determination to make their country better, it turns out to be highly successful. Similarly, when we have a strong passion and determination to achieve our success, it will finally turn out to be very rewarding and satisfying.

That is the connection between all the talk about South Korea points of interest and inspiration to be a Hero in your life. Have you found out your passion and determination to achieve success? You can read this article to make your success goal achievable. Any food for thought is welcomed.

South Korea sounds like an amazing place. How can a country get all it’s citizens to want to make it a better place? They are definitely doing something right! This attitude is definitely one to admire. South Korea is also a massive gaming hub! They have incredible video gamers who go on to be the best pros. It seems like the people there are just driven to be the best! What a fantastic attitude.

    1. Alexander Blue (Post author)

Yes, they have a good attitude and finally prove that their country is amazing too! There are so many things that we can learn from them :)

    Largest indoor park?

Jeez, count me in! South Korea has always been one of the places I’ve had a burning desire to go and explore. I’d love to just completely be able to fully immerse myself in the culture without holding back.

Next step, learning how to speak the language! haha…that could take a very long time. Thanks for the informative post.

    1. Alexander Blue (Post author)

  3. Julian

I never knew that the world’s largest indoor park was in Seoul. I wish I could visit Lotte World. What types of rides and games does Lotte have? What is the most popular?

Your writing style is interesting and you provide alot of detail in your posts. I appreciate the amount of research you part into your work.

    1. Alexander Blue (Post author)

Hi Julian, I’ve never visited there myself (for now) but I’ve heard they have a magnificent spot called “Magic Island”, which is an artificial island. Amazing, isn’t it? Well, I do hope someday I will be able to go there :)

Thanks for your kind visit and look forward to other inspiring articles :)

Actually how did they actually become so famous
    sometimes i wonder why
Do they actually choose to become with the illuminati?
    Or worship god for it?
they are a trend where kids and adults watch their drama plays their games
Listen to their korea pop songs
    and etc
Btw keep up the good work with your article!

    1. Alexander Blue (Post author)

Hi Rick, I have a keen in conspiration theory and organization like illuminati. However, I believe that the people themselves with their own power and determination that make their country as advance as of now.

South Korea is similar to Japan, in term of technology advancing and country’s popularity, just they come later after Japan. I remember that in my childhood at 1990s, Japan is the every kids’ favorite country in regards of their games, anime (Japanese cartoon), manga (Japanese comic book), and other culture.

South Korean’s culture boomed a lot at early 2000s in my country, starting with KPop, KDrama, and Korean games (particularly in online games). The eternal rival of Apple, which is Samsung, is also a South Korean company.

I’m sure with hard work, determination, and love for their own country, any other country can become so famous like them :)

Oh, Ragnarok definitively brings back memories for me, I used to play the game when I was in primary school. Sometimes I’d still listen to their theme songs and can picture the fields in the game.

We are pretty inspired by South Korea in our country here as well, from the dramas to the music, I used to be a big fan myself.

I do agree that they train themselves really hard, which is something you can see solely in their music industry where they incorporate detailed choreography with singing live, it’s pretty insane when you think about it.

    Thanks for sharing, man!

    1. Alblue (Post author)

Hi Anh :) Yes, I can imagine the field everytime I heard their theme song. Ragnarok surely brings back a lot of memories when I almost skipped school back at that day haha.

Yes, people in there really work hard, and now their country is easily heard everywhere. There is even a specific term for Korean wave, called Hallyu wave, which is a term describing Korean big influence outside the country.

      Thanks for visiting :)

  6. Vera

I have never been to South Korea but with your great article you really make me curious and I think I should go there some day!

I didn’t know it it the motherland of Gangnam Style, what a huge social buzz this caused worldwide! Look like they are big in entertainment anyway.

But what invites me even more are all the sights worth a trip. Seoul with its culture and people looks pretty overwhelming.

    Thanks for inspiring my wanderlust!

    1. Alblue (Post author)

Hi Vera. Thank you for your compliment :) Yeah I’ve been a little curious about South Korea too, so I decided to write up an article about it. Oh you just know that Gangnam Style is from South Korea? :) That’s okay haha. I wish there will be something like Gangnam Style again in the future though. It is entertaining when everybody make a video about Gangnam Style and upload it.

Well, you just gave me some idea about other article. OK, I hope you can visit there some time :)

Great article i wasn’t aware of all that South Korea had to offer regarding points of interest i’ll have it present when i plan to travel again. What calls one’s attention the most is how people united and with clear goals and determination can achieve big success.
